Stay in the (Skincare) Know

Don’t get duped by devious marketing. Before you start searching for skincare products, it’s important to know exactly what you’re looking for. Here are a few commonly confused skincare definitions to keep you on the right track:

  • Hydration—While many companies like to throw this word around, usually what their customers are really searching for is moisturization. Look for products that will actually provide lasting moisture to your skin if you’re looking to alleviate issues like dryness, redness, and itchiness.

  • Active Ingredient—Generally speaking, this is the term for the main ingredient that’s responsible for delivering the benefit of the product. Depending on the way the packaging is worded, however, it could be considered cosmetic rather than clinical… meaning it might not be as powerful as it claims.

  • Unscented—This is a tricky term, since people looking for these products typically have sensitive skin. If a product is unscented, it could mean a mild scent has been added to cover up the smell of the product itself. If you want to avoid perfumes altogether, go for “fragrance-free” instead.

Now that you’re in-the-know about these key skincare terms, take a look at our shop. You’ll find nothing but the best from our dermatologist-recommended collection to refine your skincare routine.
