The excel®V+ treats skin concerns with two wavelengths:
- The 532 nm wavelength (KTP) treats superficial vascular lesions including rosacea, redness, and spider veins.
- The 1064 nm wavelength (Nd:YAG) treats deeper, darker vascular lesions including leg veins and vascular malformations as well as diffuse redness due to deeper blood vessels.

How does the excel®V+ work?
The laser works by delivering pulses of laser light energy that are absorbed by the blood and cause the blood to coagulate. The coagulated blood vessels are gradually absorbed by the body. Blood flow is redirected to deeper vessels. It is common to have redness and mild swelling following treatment with excel®V+, and in some cases temporary bruising may result.
Treatment of vascular lesions may require multiple sessions, spaced four to six weeks apart. Small vessels can often be eliminated after one or two treatments, while larger vessels may require multiple treatments. Sun exposure should be avoided prior to and immediately after treatments.

What to Expect
Your session lasts 15-45 minutes, depending on the treatment area size. You'll wear protective eyewear throughout. The CoolView sapphire cooling system contacts your skin before, during and after each laser pulse to improve your comfort. As a result, most patients describe the sensation as a quick snap followed by cooling relief. Discomfort is minimal and well-tolerated.
Treated areas appear pink to red with possible mild swelling. This typically resolves within hours to a few days. Some vessels darken initially before fading and indicate successful treatment. You can apply makeup immediately.
Within a couple of weeks, you'll notice dramatic improvement in the treated area(s), with issues significantly fading or disappearing.

Excel V+ Treatment for Specific Conditions: Comprehensive Vascular Solutions
The excel V+ laser's dual-wavelength system makes it uniquely versatile, addressing a wide range of vascular and pigmented concerns that patients struggle with daily.
Rosacea: Rosacea, a condition characterized by persistent facial redness, visible blood vessels, and sometimes inflammatory papules, affects millions of Canadians. The excel V+ laser targets the dilated blood vessels that cause redness and the inflammatory factors that perpetuate the condition. Most patients see a significant reduction in baseline redness after a couple of treatments, with diminished flushing frequency and intensity. The more superficial wavelength specifically targets facial telangiectasias (tiny red veins), while the deeper wavelength addresses deeper vascular components contributing to diffuse redness.
Spider Veins: Facial spider veins, those small red or purple lines across your nose, cheeks, or chin, respond beautifully to excel V+ treatment. It also effectively treats small-to-medium spider veins on the thighs, calves, and ankles.
Cherry Angiomas: Cherry angiomas are common benign growths that appear as bright red bumps, often developing with age. They can be quickly and permanently eliminated with excel V+. A brief pulse of laser energy coagulates the vessel feeding the angioma, and it disappears within weeks.
Port Wine Stain Birthmarks: Port wine stains are congenital vascular malformations that appear as flat red-to-purple patches. They lighten significantly with excel V+ treatments.
Poikiloderma of Civatte: This common aging condition creates red-brown discolouration on the sides of the neck and chest, areas typically exposed to the sun. Excel V+ treats both the vascular (redness) and pigmented (brown) components, significantly improving appearance.
Scars and Keloids: Excel V+ reduces redness in scars, particularly hypertrophic and keloid scars. While it doesn't flatten raised scars, it dramatically improves their appearance by eliminating the red-purple colouration. Many patients combine excel V+ with other scar treatments, such as microneedling or a fractional laser, for comprehensive improvement.
Bruising and Purpura: The laser can accelerate bruise healing by breaking down hemoglobin, which causes discolouration. This application is particularly valuable for patients who bruise easily or who develop visible bruising after cosmetic procedures.
