Skinvive Toronto

Improve Skin Smoothness, Quality, and Hydration.

SkinVive is an injectable hyaluronic acid gel which improves skin smoothness, quality, and hydration. SkinVive helps skin feel firmer and look more radiant. Any area can be treated, including the face, neck, décolletage, and hands. Hyaluronic acid is naturally present in your skin and diminishes as we age, resulting in fine lines and a loss of plumpness. Injection of hyaluronic acid has been shown to increase collagen synthesis in the skin, which also contributes to its antiaging effect.

What Makes SkinVive Unique

SkinVive is specifically designed for improving skin smoothness, not for volumization or wrinkle filling. This is a result of years of clinical research demonstrating that hyaluronic acid, when formulated and administered correctly, can enhance skin quality rather than simply adding volume.

SkinVive's formulation is based on proprietary Vycross technology, which is a specific manufacturing process that creates a unique molecular structure optimized for dermal integration and sustained hydration.

Our Comprehensive Approach to SkinVive

At Compass Dermatology, you'll meet with one of our board-certified dermatologists to discuss your concerns and devise a treatment plan to achieve your aesthetic goals.
Injection of SkinVive is relatively comfortable. A topical anesthetic is typically applied prior to your treatment to reduce discomfort. Tylenol one hour prior to your appointment is also recommended.

Following your treatment, your skin will be slightly red and a little bumpy for several hours. Cooling may be applied, and an antihistamine can be taken to reduce swelling. You can apply makeup the following morning, and we recommend having a full-coverage concealer on hand in case of bruising.

What to Expect

During the procedure, small amounts of SkinVive hydrating gel are injected superficially into the skin using a fine needle. SkinVive is hydrophilic, meaning that it attracts water to the skin, leaving the treated area dewy and radiant.

The number of sessions recommended depends on several factors, including the quality of your skin and desired results. Most patients require one to two sessions, spaced 4-8 weeks apart. Maintenance treatments every 6-12 months are suggested.

Optimizing SkinVive Throughout the Year

One of the practical advantages of SkinVive is its versatility across the seasons.

Winter Hydration Boost: We all know that winter is harsh on the skin. Cold outdoor temperatures combined with dry indoor heating means dehydration is inevitable. This makes fine lines appear more pronounced, the skin feel tight, and your overall complexion look duller. SkinVive treatments scheduled in late fall or early winter can help keep your skin glowing.

The deep dermal hydration SkinVive provides is fundamentally different from topical moisturizers. SkinVive addresses dehydration at its source, creating resilience against winter's drying effects.

Pre-Summer Glow Preparation: Many patients schedule SkinVive treatments a month or so before summer events, vacations, or simply to achieve that coveted summer glow. The treatment creates a luminous, dewy appearance. Additionally, well-hydrated skin tolerates sun exposure better (though SPF remains essential).

Year-Round Maintenance: SkinVive works beautifully year-round. The minimal downtime means you never need to plan treatments around sun avoidance or social commitments. This accessibility makes it ideal for ongoing maintenance:

Spring: Refresh skin after winter dehydration
Summer: Maintain radiant, glowing skin
Fall: Prepare skin for upcoming harsh weather
Winter: Combat environmental dehydration

How Hyaluronic Acid Attracts Water

The term "hydrophilic" literally means "water-loving," and hyaluronic acid is among the most hydrophilic molecules in your body. HA can hold up to 1,000 times its weight in water. When SkinVive is injected into your skin, those HA molecules immediately begin attracting and binding water molecules from surrounding tissue and from the bloodstream. This water retention creates the hydration that makes your skin appear plumper, smoother, and more radiant. This effect can last for months.

And the best thing about SkinVive is that since well-hydrated skin maintains better barrier function, it protects your skin against environmental stressors.

Microneedling FAQ

Will SkinVive change the shape of my face?

SkinVive will not change the shape of your face. It is injected superficially to smooth and hydrate the upper layers of the skin. It’s important to be aware that since the improvement is in skin quality, the results tend to be more subtle than a volumizing filler.

Who is a candidate for SkinVive?

Can I combine SkinVive with other injectables?

Can I combine SkinVive with lasers or other devices?

Yes! SkinVive can be combined with most device-based treatments (such as broadband light, Laser Genesis, and Sylfirm X radiofrequency microneedling) on the SAME day.

How far in advance of a big event should I book my SkinVive treatment for optimal glow?
