What are Dermal Fillers?
Dermal HA fillers are one of the most powerful tools that dermatologists use to make aesthetic changes to the face. They contain hyaluronic acid, a naturally occurring sugar that binds water and holds it in the skin. As we age, our skin produces less hyaluronic acid, resulting in less hydrated, thinner skin with wrinkles and folds. Injectable dermal HA fillers may be used to replace and enhance the hyaluronic acid in your skin, resulting in plump, hydrated skin with improved volume and fewer lines and folds. The results are evident immediately following your treatment and are long-lasting. While there is the risk of bruising due to injection of dermal fillers, there is typically minimal recovery time. Our dermatologists will evaluate your overall aesthetic goals and devise a holistic plan for natural rejuvenation.
All dermal filler injections at Compass Dermatology are performed by our board-certified dermatologists.
What are the benefits of dermal fillers?
The benefits of dermal filler injections include:
Dermal fillers can be administered in our office in 15-30 minutes.
Dermal fillers can effectively address many signs of aging and immediate improvement is evident.
When properly administered by dermatologists with expert knowledge of anatomy and technique, hyaluronic acid dermal fillers are extremely safe. The risk of a reaction to HA fillers is very low and the gel can be dissolved with the enzyme hyaluronidase.
- Minimal recovery
Patients are able to return to their normal daily activities immediately following filler injection.
- Minimal discomfort
Injection of dermal fillers is associated with minimal discomfort. All dermal fillers contain small amounts of lidocaine to numb the skin during injections.
Who is a Candidate for Dermal Fillers?
Due to their safety and ability to address many signs of aging, most patients are candidates for dermal fillers. Whether you're male or female, in your 20s or 70s, fillers can be used to correct volume loss and enhance your facial features and proportions. Dermal fillers are able to achieve dramatic results, however in some cases other options, including surgery, may be more suitable.
Our Comprehensive Approach to Dermal Fillers
At Compass Dermatology, our goal is to provide our patients with natural results. Fillers are incredible tools for replacing lost volume, providing lift, and reducing lines and folds, but if an injector is chasing lines without considering proper facial proportions, the results will be unnatural and unattractive. During your cosmetic consultation, our dermatologists will assess your facial features and discuss your cosmetic goals before planning a customized treatment.

Dermal fillers are soft injectable gels that contain bio-compatible hyaluronic acid, which is a sugar molecule found naturally in your skin. The hyaluronic acid found in dermal fillers is manufactured in a lab and is not from an animal source.

Improvements due to injections of dermal filler are visible immediately following your treatment. Mild swelling and occasional bruising may result from filler injections and can take up to 2 weeks to subside. Final results can be assessed at two weeks.
