InstaLift Toronto Thread Lift
For a Lift You'll See Instantly
InstaLift thread lift is an innovative, non-surgical treatment that immediately lifts and repositions lax skin of the cheeks and jowls.
What is InstaLift?
Silhouette InstaLift is an innovative thread lift treatment that gently lifts sagging skin to restore facial contours to a more youthful position. The lift is achieved by using absorbable sutures and micro-cones constructed from poly L-lactide-co-glycolide (PLGA) and poly-L lactic acid (PLLA), which are fully absorbable, biocompatible molecules.

InstaLift takes under an hour to complete, and you'll be able to see an improvement immediately, with further improvement for up to one year afterwards. Results last up to two years.
Our Comprehensive Approach to InstaLift
The Silhouette InstaLift treatment begins with a thorough pre-procedure evaluation. During the initial consultation, one of our board-certified dermatologists assesses your facial structure, skin elasticity, and specific areas of concern, such as mid-face sagging or nasolabial folds. They'll make sure the procedure is safe for you and tailored to your unique needs.
The treatment begins with gentle cleansing of the target area. Precise guidelines are made to map thread placement for optimal lift. Topical numbing cream may be applied beforehand to enhance comfort, complementing the targeted anesthesia. Minor entry points are created along the cheekbone or jawline. The thread is carefully threaded subcutaneously, with cones gripping the soft tissue to provide the desired lift. Excess thread tails are removed, leaving no visible traces.
Post-procedure, the face is soothed with cool compresses to alleviate minor redness or tenderness. You'll receive detailed aftercare instructions that are designed to expedite your recovery.
Over the months following your treatment, the threads integrate, and natural tissue remodelling enhances contouring.
Immediate Lift
Dissolvable threads reposition and tighten sagging skin for a natural, youthful contour without full surgery.
Collagen Boost
Stimulates your body's own production for gradual, long-lasting rejuvenation and improved texture.
Long Lasting Results
Additional improvements can be seen over 6 months, with results lasting for up to 2 years.
How Does InstaLift Work?
InstaLift is performed under local anesthetic and takes about one hour. Hollow tubes, or cannulas, are used to place the sutures in the skin. There is no incision and no scarring. One thread contains two sets of cones, one set at each end. The lower cones are set in the skin and then lifted prior to anchoring the upper cones in the skin.
Over time, the threads gradually and completely dissolve, releasing PLLA and PLGA which boosts natural collagen production to give you increased volume and firmer, healthier skin. So, while you'll be able to see a lift immediately, the quality of your skin will also progressively improve in the months following your treatment.

What Makes InstaLift Different from Other Thread Lifts
Not all thread lifts are the same. InstaLift uses a specific type of thread featuring cone-shaped attachments that are gentler on your skin than the other, more traditional types of threads. The cones create more surface area for holding tissue, which means better lifting with less trauma.
Other thread lifts might use smooth threads or barbed threads. Smooth threads don't provide much lift, so they're mainly for collagen stimulation. Barbed threads can grab tissue well but may cause more discomfort.
Good candidates for a thread lift have good quality skin, mild-to-moderate skin laxity, and desire a subtle, natural-looking lift without undergoing a facelift.
Understanding Thread Lifts: What They Are and How They Work
Combining InstaLift with Other Treatments for Complete Rejuvenation
InstaLift addresses sagging, but complete facial rejuvenation often requires treating multiple concerns. Strategic combination treatments create more harmonious results.
InstaLift + Dermal Fillers: This combination is popular among our patients. InstaLift lifts sagging tissues, while fillers restore lost volume in specific areas like cheeks, temples, or under the eyes. Together, they create both lift and fullness. Fillers can be considered a few weeks after the InstaLift, after any initial swelling subsides. This timing can help in assessing where extra volume might be most beneficial.
InstaLift + Botox: Threads lift the lower face, while Botox smooths the upper face. Many patients get Botox for forehead lines and crow's feet alongside InstaLift for cheeks and jowls. This addresses the entire face comprehensively.
InstaLift + Laser Treatments: Threads improve contour and lift, but they don't address skin quality, texture, or pigmentation. Laser treatments like Halo or BBL improve skin tone, texture, and overall appearance.
InstaLift + Ultherapy: Both treatments lift and stimulate collagen, but work differently. Ultherapy uses ultrasound energy to tighten skin from within. InstaLift uses threads for physical lifting. You may benefit from both, receiving an InstaLift for immediate lift and Ultherapy for deeper skin tightening.
The Evolution of Thread Lifts
Thread lifts aren't as new as you might think. Practicioners have used sutures to lift and support tissue for years. But using threads specifically for facial lifting started becoming popular in the 1990s.
In the 2000s, doctors started using PDO (polydioxanone) threads, made of the same dissolving material used in heart surgery stitches. These were safer because they dissolved completely over time. However, PDO threads were mainly smooth, so they didn't provide much lifting power. They were better at stimulating collagen than actual lifting.
Technology improved throughout the 2010s. Companies developed threads with better anchoring systems and materials that both lifted tissue and stimulated collagen production.
InstaLift, approved by Health Canada in 2020, represents the current gold standard in thread lift technology. It combines biocompatible cones for secure lifting with PLLA and PLGA materials that trigger natural collagen production. Unlike older threads, InstaLift provides immediate visible lift while building long-term improvement, giving patients both instant and progressive results.
How PLLA and PLGA Stimulate Collagen Production
PLLA (Poly-L-Lactic Acid) and PLGA (Poly-Lactic-co-Glycolic Acid) promote collagen production by creating a controlled foreign body response in the body. This process activates fibroblasts, thereby increasing collagen production.
PLLA degrades slowly over 18–24 months, providing long-lasting effects with peak stimulation at 3–6 months. In contrast, PLGA degrades more quickly (1–6 months, depending on its composition), resulting in faster but shorter-term effects.
Both materials create a scaffold that encourages natural collagen formation similar to wound healing. They are considered safe and biocompatible, making them popular choices in aesthetic treatments and regenerative medicine.
